I was looking for a girl only, but after seeing Lars and Osi's big
sisters, Enya and Jasmine at Nandinakatts, I just had to have him too!
And we all know it is nice for kittens to have a play mate and these two
have always been inseperable!
Lars
is a big lovable softy, and a total Daddy's boy! First thing in the
morning he goes straight upstairs jumps on John's chest to give him
kisses! He loves his fuss, and loves to be on your lap kneeding and
purring away! He is also full of mischief and loves his food, often
trying to steal Osi's once he's eaten his! If the bin has been raided
guaranteed it'll be him, a master thief, nothing is safe and all has to
be cleared away or else, he even sits under Leon's chair at the table
for any scraps that may come his way, usually from the hand of my son!
And if John is not at paw's reach, then he happily curls up with the
kids, often being found on their beds! Lars is an excellent big brother
to Vanya and makes it his business to bath her every evening before bed!
On Monday the 16th Feb 2009 Lars passed away suddenly and very unexpectantly in his sleep after suffering a fatal fit/seizure.
As much as I hated doing so, Lars was taken straight to the vet for an autopsy (this is one of the painful parts of breeding and unfortunately is a neccessity) as a responsible breeder, I had to consider the health of my other cats and make sure that Lars's death was not due to anything that could cause risk to anyone else :-(
Also, from a breeding point of view, you have to do your utmost to make sure your lines are as healthy as possible, even though Lars was a neuter and never produced offspring, Osiana is his full sister. Lars was thoroughly investigated, there were no signs of illness, disease, trauma, poisoning or anything else, his organs were all healthy and as they should be. The only thing out of place was that his tongue had been bitten and his neck was 'craned', showing that he had had a fit or seizure. It is not a 'condition', genetic or hereditary, just one of those things that can happen to any cat :-(
Lars is missed so much and he will always be with us,
there are not words enough to describe the loss we feel since Lars has
passed away. I just thank God he was asleep at the time. He was so young and not with us long enough, but, long
enough to impress himself on all of our hearts forever, Lars will always be with us and will always have a special place in our hearts XXX
